Last Letter!! 4/13/15

I know I will be seeing you all in a couple of days but I wanted to take this small opportunity to write you one last time. I want to share two scriptures that I have come to love here in the mission.
20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
2 Nefi 31:20

21 I say unto you that if ye should serve him who has created you from the beginning, and is preserving you from day to day, by lending you breath, that ye may live and move and do according to your own will, and even supporting you from one moment to another—I say, if ye should serve him with all your whole souls yet ye would be unprofitable servants.

22 And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you.

Mosíah 2:21-22
I love this. All we need to do is keep the commandments, trust in God, and serve Him with all our might. Sounds like a lot, but I know with all my heart that the blessings that come from it are even bigger, especially because we will know that we are doing what He wants of us. I plan to serve Him for the rest of my life. What are your plans?
I love you all so much! I can´t wait to see you all and really give you un abrazo de oso. There are plenty to make up for.
I don´t know what to say and I know I won´t know what to do with myself when I get there but here´s to trusting the Lord to make the future a bright one.

General Conference! 4/6/15

Wasn´t it amazing!? I hope you all watched every single session. I loved this week because the whole week we were inviting people to listen to the living prophet. It made me sad to realize how few people were willing to accompany us. However, those who did received answers very specifics just for them. I know that the Lord has each and every one of us in mind when He helps His servants prepare their talks.

Another thing that we are inviting people to do, which I would also like to extend to all of you, is think of some goals to be able to understand or obey what these servants of God have taught us. Goals are amazing. They help us progress.
This week I want to share an experience with all of you. We were so excited to invite everyone we could to the Conference. Before each session we invited everyone we possibly could, arriving at the church just as it was starting. We met a young man who told us that he would go if he was there. So on Sunday morning we passed by to see if we could find him. He was standing outside! However, when we invited him to join us he told us he was waiting for his girlfriend and would not be able to go. So we asked if we could pass by before the last session. He said, ¨If I´m here¨ So, just before the last session we had to pass by for another investigator so we went and got her. About 15 minutes before the conference started we ran out of the church building to go pick up this young man. We arrived at his house, out of breath. He was outside again! However, again he told us that he was waiting for someone. We invited, insisting a little. He told us then that he doesn´t believe in God. I asked him why. He didn´t really have an answer. I just told him that God will always be waiting for him. Now you might be thinking, ¨Why is she sharing this story with us?¨ Well, honestly I´m not sure. I think it´s because I felt so strongly that even though he didn´t want to go with us to the conference, that effort is not wasted. Every effort we make to live what God wants us to do, even if it seems that it didn´t really make a difference will always make a tiny difference to better someone elses life. I hope you can all make an effort to help those around you, even if it is something small that doesn´t seem to have an effect. I promise it does.
One last thought: It surprised me a lot that the prophet spoke so little. But I feel that that message must be the only one that God wanted to send to us. We all need to appreciate more the temple. That can be in many different ways: Walking around the outside and feeling the Spirit that emanates from it, baptisms for the dead, a session, etc. I hope we can all enjoy this wonderful blessing that we have. Plus, they are just beautiful!

Hope everyone is just as excited as I am!

I love this time because we share a lot about prophets and the importance that they have in God´s church. For the last couple of weeks we have been inviting people to come and listen to a prophet of God who has been called he same as Moses, Noah, Abraham and all of the ancient prophets of the Bible. I hope that we can all take this opportunity as important as it really is. Invite people to go with you. It is an opportunity that you can´t let pass you up. Neighbors, Friends, People in the street. They are all children of God who, just like you and me, need to hear what council the Lord will send us this next week.
Make this a great experience for you and those around you.
any man who hath seen any or the least of these hath seen God moving in his majesty and power.
DyC 88:41-48 My favorite scripture about the creation
Something that I love about life is the fact that we always have something to look forward to. We must enjoy the present while we are in it. There is always a gift that God gives us. The future sometimes seems like a scary thing because who knows what will come our way. That is why God has placed messengers on the earth to guide us. I want to share a quote from the Prophet that I love ¨testify to you that our promised blessings are beyond measure. Though the storm clouds may gather, though the rains may pour down upon us, our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments. There will be nothing in this world that can defeat us.

My beloved brothers and sisters, fear not. Be of good cheer. The future is as bright as your faith.

declare that God lives and that He hears and answers our prayers. His Son, Jesus Christ, is our Savior and our Redeemer. Heaven’s blessings await us.

I know this is true as well. I hope that you take some good notes!

Miracles 3/25/15

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESLast trip to the Mexico Monterrey temple

This week I wanted to talk a little bit about miracles. First off, the definition:

“A miracle is an extraordinary event caused by the power of God. Miracles are an important element in the work of Jesus Christ. They include healings, restoring the dead to life, and resurrection. Miracles are a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith is necessary in order for miracles to be manifested”

Next, a couple of scriptures:

Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.

And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls. Alma 37:6-7

12 For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith. Eter 12:12
(Or it can be taken as the positive way: Where there is faith, God will do miracles among them)
Last, a couple of small examples:
We were able to touch the heart of a man that has been very hard. He is the father of a recent convert and hasn´t been very receptive towards us. We passed by their house the other day and he was going through some very hard circumstances. We were able to sing to him and invite him to church. He was humble and willing to listen. His daughter was able to go to mutual this week and the future looks brighter for them.
We found someone who is willing to change looking for less active members. We knocked on just one door and asked if we could come in, after finding out that who we were looking for didn´t live there anymore. She accepted what we taught her and is very willing to continue learning and acting.
We found a family! When we first walked in we did not feel like they were going to accept us, but as we taught their whole family (parents and 3 children) about the Restoration of the Gospel we felt the Spirit and were able to answer all of their questions. It was  lesson worthy of the District 😛 It was a testimony builder for me.
My prayer was answered in a very direct way. As we were heading off to our weekly meeting that we have with the other missionaries I prayed that we would be able to put goals for how we can become better as missionaries. When the Zone Leaders started teaching, they gave us about 10 minutes to go to another room to put goals with our companion!
I love when we can see the hand of God in our lives so clearly. I know He is in each and every one of you lives. He cares about every aspect of it. I know that when we work hard, ask with faith and trust in Him, everything will work out and we will be able to see the hand of God more and more in our lives.
Another small part of another definition:
Miracles should not be regarded as deviations from the ordinary course of nature so much as manifestations of divine or spiritual power.
Look for those small and simple things that the Lord puts in your lives to make great changes. I know they are there. Have faith in that and then you will see.
I love you all SO much. Make this a great week. I hope to hear about your miracles on Monday 🙂

17 months today 3/16/15

Pastel de Tres Leches! My companion taught me how. Super yummy.
I think I forgot to tell you what area I am in. I did change areas. Kind of. I am in the same ward. I just moved from R- B to R- C. We walked my suitcases to the other house. It was great. I am no longer Sister Training Leader either. Just me and my companion.  She`s great.
This week was a roller coaster of emotions and ended with the baptism of E from my last area! He had a lot of opposition but made it through. I love it when that happens!
This week I started memorizing The Living Christ. It is powerful. I love how clearly it talks about the life of Christ and what it really means for us.
-Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example.
– He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind. His was a great vicarious gift in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth.
These are some of my favorite parts that I have memorized up to now. I hope that we can all work harder to meet that invitation to follow Him and accept the gift that He has given us.
I know that my Savior really did suffer for each of us. Something that a brother said in the church really caught my attention. We were talking about the Atonement and he said, ¨We won`t be able to say to Him, ´You don`t understand how I felt! Why I didn`t do it!´ He understands every feeling that we have ever had and will ever have.¨ He understands us. All we have to do is try our hardest and run to Him so that He can lift us up when we really can`t do it. I know that to be true. He loves me. He loves you. He loves your neighbor. I love Him and for that, I serve. I hope that we can all strive to be better servants of someone who loves us infinitely.
I love you all! Make this a great week!

¡LES AMO!‏ 3/9/15

Hola Familia!

Espero que esten bien todos.
This week was great. I am super excited for the area, my companion and more wonderful experiences.
My companions name is Hna L. She is from Oaxaca, Mexico (pronounced wahaca). It`s in the south and is one of the places that has preserved the culture of Mexico the best. Another fun tip. She was trained by Hna B who was trained by me! Kind of fun. She is super cute and a really wonderful missionary
Keeping warm in bi-polar Monterrey. You pull the brown sock up and nobody knows! 🙂
This week I had a thought that I would like to share with you all.
What comes from inside of us (the light of Christ) has to be stronger than anything that can ever come from outside. I think that is why nothing that happens to us in life will be to much for us if we trust in Him. Our trust in Him comes from something much more powerful and much more important. It comes from our divine nature.
37 But, behold, it mattereth not—we trust God will deliver us, notwithstanding the weakness of our armies, yea,  and deliver us out of the hands of our enemies.
Alma 58:37
Or in terms for us ´But, behold, the circumstances matter not – we trust God will deliver us, notwithstanding our weaknesses, yea, and deliver us out of the hands of the enemy.´
Trust in God. We are His children and what He most wants is to bless us. To have us in His arms again. I know this gospel will take us there. Follow it. Trust in the leaders He has chosen for us. Work hard. Love the Lord. Never look back but to the future.
Make this a great week.
